For Friday, Family Weekend Shuttle (a chartered Crimson Ride bus) will stop at the Softball Stadium/Tennis Stadium Lot and the UA Student Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to help you get around campus.

Family Weekend Check-In

Registered Family Weekend participants should check in to pick up their Family Weekend packets, including a Family Weekend guide, schedule of events, clear stadium bag, and event wristbands/ tickets. Big Al (UA’s mascot) will be greeting families at Check-In from 1:15 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. 
Anyone arriving after 7 p.m. can pick up their packet at the Saturday Family Weekend tailgate.

Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History Trail

Visit the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History & Reconciliation Foundation website to see a map of the self-guided civil rights history tour.

Gorgas House Museum

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 1 – 4 p.m. | Gorgas House
Visit the Gorgas House Museum to see UA’s first campus building. The Gorgas House Museum connects the original campus of 1831 and today. Free admission for UA faculty, staff and students. $2.00 for general admission.

Paul W. Bryant Museum

9 a.m. – 4 p.m. | 300 Paul W. Bryant Drive
Visit the Paul W. Bryant Museum to see the exhibit, artifacts, and memorabilia that trace the long history of the University of Alabama football program. Visit the Paul W. Bryant Museum website for more details. Free admission for UA faculty, staff, students, alumni, and veterans. General admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.

Alabama Museum of Natural History

10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Smith Hall
Visit the Alabama Museum of Natural History to learn how they detail the state’s natural history and ancient past. Visit the Alabama Museum of Natural History website for more information. Free admission for UA faculty, staff, and students. General admission is $5.00.

Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Open House

Stop by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to learn more about the Greek community and meet the staff. Both current and prospective members and their families are welcome to drop in!

VMA Open House

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | 3000 Houser Hall
Join the VMA office for an open house to explore the resources and services offered at the Capstone for military-affiliated students (veterans, service members, dependents, and survivors).

Sweet Success with CCSS

Join the Capstone Center for Student Success for an Open House to connect with our 8 departments and learn more about the ways that CCSS supports students at the Capstone. Enjoy ice cream and sweet treats while connecting with departments.

Education Abroad Information Tent

Join the Education Abroad Team and current Faculty Directors at our information tent on the BB Comer lawn! The EA team will offer general information about the study abroad process, and the Faculty Directors will talk about the in’s and out’s of participating on one of our UA-sponsored programs. Join A&S for an Open House and enjoy ice cream and popcorn while visiting tables where parents and students can ask questions, get swag and meet representatives from A&S Student Services. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the Dean and Associate Deans of the College. 

College of Communication and Information Sciences Reception

The College of Communication & Information Sciences is hosting a reception for current students and their families. Parents and family members will be able to mingle with the C&IS dean, faculty, and staff while enjoying light refreshments!

Women and Gender Resource Chocolate Festival

Family Weekend Kickoff Concert

  Entertainment by Rebel, games, and blankets paid by Family Weekend registration fees. This event is co-sponsored by Visit Tuscaloosa.

Families will experience an evening in downtown Tuscaloosa. This event will take place at the beautiful Government Plaza and includes musical entertainment and a charming southern ambiance. Enjoy one of our many restaurants or food truck options (for purchase) and join us for a taste of life in Tuscaloosa. Present the ticket from your Check-In packet for a free picnic blanket (blankets are 1 per family to the first 500 families: only available at the Kickoff Concert). Food trucks meals are on your own and are not covered in family weekend ticket price.

Family Weekend Tailgate

Join Parent & Family Programs for a tailgate to celebrate the Crimson Tide. During the Family Weekend Tailgate, you can create memories through our family photo stations and activities to experience the Crimson Tide tradition. Experience a taste of Tuscaloosa with your Family Weekend Tailgate meal included with your wristband. Look for the balloon arch and Tailgate signage.

Family Weekend Tailgate Menu: Eggs, bacon, buttermilk biscuits, grits, mixed fruit, white sausage gravy, Jim n Nick’s Cheese biscuits, BBQ Pork Sandwiches and chips (first come, first served), Vegan meals upon request, orange juice, Powerade and bottled water.

If you are interested in attending a religious service during your Family Weekend visit, some options available near campus.

Family Weekend Brunch

8 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Lakeside Dining Hall
  Registration required. Parents who did not purchase family weekend tickets can pay $10.50 at the door.

Enjoy brunch and live music with your UA family at Lakeside Dining Hall, one of our amazing dining locations. The brunch will include kosher style menu items. Join Bama Dining for a silent auction with over 20 University of Alabama items your student would love. Credit cards only accepted. All proceeds of the silent auction go to the Student Care and Wellbeing Student Life Campus Pantry. Click here for the auction guide that shows all items that will be auctioned off that day. Click right arrow to see items. Items will continue to be added up until the day of the auction. Bidding must take place in person. Big Al will make an appearance 9 am – 10 am. Family Weekend Family Outdoor Yoga

Come to the Student Center Lawn to enjoy one of our two Family Weekend Yoga sessions. Parental supervision is required for non-student individuals under 19 years of age to participate.

Family Adventure Day at Lake Nicol

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. & 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. |Lake Nicol (4409 Nicol Park Rd.)

Join UA Outdoor Recreation and Parent & Family Programs for some paddling and watch the leaves begin to change colors at Lake Nicol. Lake Nicol is an attractive, easily accessible, well-maintained, and popular wooded park on a substantial lake. This lake is relatively small, but packs a big punch with its cliff views and its fun in the sun and aquatic activities! While its swimming holes are a crowd-pleaser, Lake Nicol is also known as a great beginner’s spot for those who want to canoe, kayak, paddleboard, and fish.
