Smiling family

More Family Weekend 2020 details will be announced as they are available.

Family Weekend is a “Choose Your Own Adventure” weekend with three main goals for UA families:

  • To reconnect and spend time with your UA student;
  • To experience UA traditions; and
  • To explore Tuscaloosa, your UA student’s new “home away from home.”

During Family Weekend, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy time with your UA student and achieve those goals as a family.

Family Weekend 2020 will be held September 25 – 27, 2020. Only some of the FW2020 offerings will be specific to that weekend. The vast majority of FW2020 activities can be experienced no matter which weekend you choose to visit your student.

A family will not need to register in advance for Family Weekend 2020 and there will not be a registration fee for Family Weekend 2020. However, some recommended activities may have associated fees that will be indicated in the schedule.

There will not be a registration fee for FW2020. See our Schedule page for more details about events.

Due to the recently announced SEC schedule changes + reduced stadium capacity, we will not be partnering with Athletics this year to sell any football tickets. Be sure to join our PENpALS list to receive any announcements about any partnerships with Athletics in the future.

Visit our Schedule Page for a list of campus and community events! The adjusted Family Weekend 2020 schedule offers a variety of LIVE virtual sessions, on-demand activities, and suggested family-focused activities around town to best suit your family’s schedule.
Most families make hotel reservations for the weekend. The earlier you do this the better, as fall in Tuscaloosa is a busy time for local hotels. Check out Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports for helpful hotel and visitor information.
  • On Friday, parking regulations will be enforced. Find more information about visitor parking on the Parking Services website.
  • On Saturday + Sunday, University parking regulations are not enforced, so parking is allowed in legal parking spots across campus. Parking is also available throughout the weekend in the Ferguson Student Center Parking Deck for $10/day.
