In 2018, Family Weekend will include some new event offerings and will continue the tradition of our signature Tailgate event. More information will be posted to the site as it becomes available.

When is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend 2018 will be held September 28-30, 2018. This is a great time to visit campus to see your student’s home away from home! Social and educational family-friendly programs are planned for the weekend so you and your family can enjoy campus, learn more about The University of Alabama, and experience the pride and tradition of Alabama football.

2017 Details

How do I register for Family Weekend?

Visit the Family Weekend Registration page to make Family Weekend purchases.  A la carte tickets to some events will be available at Check-In. Registration for Family Weekend 2018 will be available in May 2018.

How much does the Family Weekend package cost, and what does it include?

Family Weekend packages cost $48 and can be purchased for the weekend once registration opens. A package includes admission for one person to participate in Rollin’ on the River, the Family Weekend Tailgate, and the Student Life Brunch. The purchase of a Family Weekend package also includes tickets for your UA student for Rollin’ on the River, the Family Weekend Tailgate, and the Student Life Brunch. Included student tickets are to be used by current UA students only.

Do I have to purchase a package?

If you would like to attend the Family Weekend Tailgate, you must purchase a package. The package also comes with tickets to Rollin’ on the River and the Student Life Brunch, but you have the option to purchase tickets to those events separately through the a la carte option. A ticket to the Family Weekend Tailgate cannot be purchased a la carte.

I have a child who is 3 years old. Do I need to buy them tickets for Family Weekend signature events?

No, children 3 years of age and younger are allowed entrance with their family to Family Weekend signature events at no cost. Note about football tickets for children: Anyone in attendance at the football game (including children 3 years of age and younger) is required to have a football ticket. A package purchase is required for eligibility to purchase football tickets for the Alabama vs. Colorado State football game. Instructions on how to purchase football tickets can be found on our Football Tickets page on the Family Weekend website. Any questions regarding football tickets should be directed to the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-TIDETIX.

What if I only attend one event during Family Weekend?

A la carte options are available for Rollin’ on the River on Friday night and the Student Life Brunch on Sunday morning. A la carte tickets for these events cost $15 per person. People attending with an a la carte ticket do not get an automatic student ticket for the event. A separate ticket for the student must be purchased at the same cost of $15. Rollin’ tickets are now sold out.

Is entry for my student included with the a la carte tickets?

No. People attending with an a la carte ticket do not get an automatic student ticket for the event. A separate ticket for the student must be purchased at the same cost of $15.

What if I already made a purchase but want to purchase additional items?

A purchase cannot be changed once it has been made. You will need to make a new purchase by using your tix.com login information to reenter the registration site. This will be a separate purchase from your initial order. You will have two separate orders that show up under your account.

How do I review my order?

You can access your Tix account anytime by entering your tix.com username and password that you created when you placed your order.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Visa, American Express, MasterCard and Discover cards are all accepted methods of payment for your Family Weekend purchases.

What events can my student attend?

Your student is invited to attend all Family Weekend events with your family. If you purchase a Family Weekend package, your UA student’s event tickets are included for Rollin’ on the River, the Family Weekend Tailgate, and the Student Life Brunch. Students must present a ticket for entry into these events.

What do I need for entry into the Family Weekend events?

You are required to present your ticket at each signature event (Rollin’ on the River, Family Weekend Tailgate, and Student Life Brunch). Tickets for each event will be provided  at Check-In.

When should we plan to arrive? Do parents stay for the whole weekend?

Families are encouraged to arrive on Thursday or Friday so they can enjoy the many events planned for Friday. Events are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so plan to stay for the entire weekend if you can!

Where can I park during Family Weekend? And how do I get around campus during Family Weekend?

On Friday, parking is available in the East Perimeter Lot behind the Capstone College of Nursing. A Family Weekend Shuttle (a chartered Crimson Ride bus) will be making stops at the lot, the Ferguson Student Center, and the President’s Mansion to help you get around campus. A bus will also transport you from the East Perimeter Lot to the Tuscaloosa River Market for Rollin’ on the River on Friday night. There will be ADA accessible parking at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Friday night, as well. *Be sure to move your car from the East Perimeter Lot on Friday night after Rollin’ on the River. On Saturday, game day parking will be enforced. Visit the UA Gameday webiste to learn more about game day parking and to purchase advance parking passes. On Sunday, University parking regulations are not enforced, so parking is allowed in legal parking spots across campus. Limited parking is also available on Friday and Sunday in the Ferguson Student Center Parking Deck for $5/day.

What can I expect from the Family Weekend shuttle on Friday?

A Family Weekend Shuttle (a chartered Crimson Ride bus) will be making stops at the lot, the Ferguson Student Center, and the President’s Mansion to help you get around campus on Friday. A bus will also transport you from the East Perimeter Lot to the Tuscaloosa River Market for Rollin’ on the River on Friday night. Shuttles will run from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.

If I purchase a Family Weekend package, am I guaranteed a football ticket?

No. The football tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

How much will football tickets cost?

Tickets are $50 with a $5 transaction fee. The barcode on your football ticket can be used in the Stadium to redeem $10 worth of concessions!

 How can I purchase tickets to the Family Weekend football game?

Football tickets can be purchased through the Athletic Ticket Office by using the promotional code received in a confirmation email after purchasing the Family Weekend package.  For every Family Weekend package purchased, you are eligible to purchase one football ticket, on a first-come, first-served basis. Note that your Family Weekend registration purchase does not include your football tickets, but simply makes you eligible to purchase a football ticket on a separate transaction. After making your Family Weekend package purchase, a football ticket code will be included on your Family Weekend confirmation/e-ticket that will be sent to your email address. Once you receive the code, you can purchase football tickets and pick your seats in the stadium by visiting the Football Tickets section of the Parent & Family Programs website. Any questions regarding football tickets should be directed to the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-843-3849 (1-877-TIDETIX).

How does my student get a ticket for the football game?

Student tickets for the football games are distributed online and are available on their Action Card. If your student has package B, they will already have a ticket to the Colorado State game. You can also, purchase a Family Weekend package and a Family Weekend football ticket for them if they do not already have a student ticket. It is very typical for parents and students to enjoy the Family Weekend Tailgate together and then meet up after the game. Specific information regarding student ticket purchasing can be found here.

I want to sit with my student at the football game. What do I need to do?

In order to sit with your student at the football game, you must also purchase a Family Weekend package for them. Student tickets are located in the student section, which is in a different location in the stadium from the tickets that family members purchase. Family Weekend football tickets are located in the upper end zone areas. If your student has a student ticket, but chooses to attend the game with you instead through an additional ticket, they can donate their student ticket through mybama. How will I receive my Family Weekend football tickets once I complete my order?

All Family Weekend football tickets are PRINT AT HOME. You will receive an email with your ticketing information from the Athletic Ticket Office. If you need to print your tickets once you arrive on campus, your student will have access to Crimson Copies and library printers (note that many locations are closed on gamedays).

When and where is Check-In?

Check-in for Family Weekend will be in the Ferguson Student Center Ballroom from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. on September 15, 2017. Late Check-In will also be in the Ferguson Center Ballroom on September 16, 2017 (Time TBA, Usually 3 hours prior to game time).

 What can I purchase on-site at Check-in?

A la carte tickets for Student Life Brunch will be available for purchase during Family Weekend Check-in while quantities last. Neither Tailgate tickets nor T-Shirts will be available. Rollin’ on the River a la carte tickets are sold out.

We have a family member in a wheelchair. Can we get around to all the events?

All events during Family Weekend are ADA accessible, including the football game on Saturday. When you purchase football tickets, there will be wheelchair accessible options. Visit the UA Gameday website for accessible parking information for Saturday and information regarding wheelchair accessibility in Bryant-Denny Stadium. If you have additional questions regarding wheelchair accessibility, contact the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-877-TIDETIX. For accessible parking on campus on Friday, the Family Weekend reserved lot will have spaces available. Also, a visitor’s pass can be purchased from Parking Services for Friday, which will allow for accessible parking in many lots on campus. There will be accessible parking at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Friday night, as well.

Are refunds available?

No. All Family Weekend purchases are non-refundable.

I missed the Family Weekend registration deadline. What can I do?

If you miss this deadline, we still encourage you to visit your student. There are a variety of campus exhibits and additional events that are open to all families. No late registrations will be accepted. A la carte tickets for Brunch on Sunday will be available at Check-In, while supplies last.
