Below is the schedule for a 1 Day session of 2022 Parent & Family Orientation (Slight adjustments may occur but those would not impact start and end times of the overall session.) Final schedules will be given at orientation check-in. These sessions are only open for students who are starting at UA for Summer 1 or who are transfer students and their families.

1 Day Summer 1/Transfer Parent & Family Orientation Session

* Designates special sessions only for parents and family members.

Check-in

8:00 – 8:45 a.m. The University of Alabama Student Center, 2nd floor
Receive your materials, name tag, and information for the day. (New UA students must be registered in advance for Bama Bound.)

Capstone Connections Information Fair

8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Student Center, 2nd floor
Visit with campus partners to learn more about specific opportunities, organizations, and resources that will enhance your student’s college experience.

Welcome to The University of Alabama

9 – 9:30 a.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
Meet the Orientation Staff who will assist you throughout your orientation experience.

College Visit

9:40  – 11:15 a.m. Various Locations
During this session, you will learn of opportunities within your student’s academic area and begin conversations about your student’s class schedule.

Parent Ambassador Small Group/Lunch *

11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Various Locations
Depending on your student’s college, Parent Ambassadors will provide an opportunity to get to know one another and learn about student involvement on campus through a small group presentation followed by lunch at the Student Center Food Court OR Parent Ambassadors will guide you to lunch followed by a Parent Ambassador Small Group. (Lunch is included in your Parent & Family Orientation fee.)

Bama Basics *

1:00 – 1:25 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
Learn about services students use daily; everything from dining, transportation, and more!

Transition to Life on Campus *

1:25 – 1:45 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
Housing and Residential Communities will present tips to help you prepare your student to make UA their home away from home.

Way to Pay at UA *

1:45 – 2:00 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
Learn from Student Account Services representatives about the process and options for payment at UA.

Financial Aid at UA *

2:00 – 2:15 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
Learn from Student Financial Aid representatives about the logistics of financial aid disbursement and more.

Supporting your Student’s Wellness *

2:30 – 2:50 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
UA has a holistic view of student wellness with a large number of resources dedicated to supporting student wellness.

Supporting Students’ Safety on Campus *

2:50 – 3:10 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
University Police will share information about UAPD’s services and programs and provide effective tips for reminding your student to stay safe on campus.

Direct From UA Students *

3:10 – 3:40 p.m. Student Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
