Below is a previous schedule from 2021 Parent & Family Orientation (Changes will occur for 2022. Please do not make travel arrangements based on these 2021 schedules.):

8:00 – 8:45 a.m. Ferguson Student Center, 2nd floor
Receive your materials, nametag, and information for the day. (New UA students must be registered in advance for Bama Bound.)
9:00 – 9:15 a.m. Ferguson Center Ballroom, 3rd floor
Meet the Orientation Staff who will assist you throughout your orientation experience.
Dismissal of Families – At this time, families are dismissed to attend family-only sessions. Parents and family members will rejoin students at the end of programming.
9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Various Locations
Parent Ambassadors will provide an opportunity to get to know one another and learn about student involvement on campus through a small group presentation.
10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Various Locations
During this session, you will learn of opportunities within your student’s academic area and begin conversations about your student’s class schedule.
12 – 1 p.m. Ferguson Center Food Court, 2nd floor
Enjoy lunch with other parents and guests alongside the Parent Ambassadors. * Only debit/credit forms of payment will be accepted.
1 – 1:20 p.m. Ferguson Center Theater, 2nd floor
Housing and Residential Communities will present tips to help you prepare your student to make UA their home away from home.
1:20 – 1:45 p.m. Ferguson Center Theater, 2nd floor
Learn from Parent Ambassadors about services students use daily; everything from dining, transportation, and more!
1:45 – 2:10 p.m. Ferguson Center Theater, 2nd floor
Parent Ambassadors will present UA’s holistic view of student wellness with information about a large number of campus resources dedicated to supporting student wellness.
2:10 – 2:30 p.m. Ferguson Center Theater, 2nd floor
University Police will share information about UAPD’s services and programs and provide effective tips for reminding your student to stay safe on campus.
2:30 – 2:50 p.m. Ferguson Center Theater, 2nd floor
Learn from Student Account Services representatives about the process and options for payment at UA.
2:50 – 3 p.m. Ferguson Center Theater, 2nd floor
Parent & Family Programs staff will walk you through what you can expect over the next few months and beyond.
Maximizing Students’ Experiences – Hear from Student Life leadership about the ways families can be involved in maximizing the experience of all students.
Diversity Initiatives at UA – Learn about the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the programs available for all UA students.
Crucial Conversations – You student has not yet left the nest. A staff member from Parent & Family Programs will help you navigate some of the important family conversations to have in preparation for your student’s transition to UA.
Involvement Sessions – Choose your own sessions to learn from the campus units that are most relevant to you and/or your student.
